Great dive this morning on the back wall of Molokini. We had a private charter with B&B SCUBA and hit the back wall. We had a MONSTER banded spiny lobster on a shelf, a couple grey reef sharks and really nice conditions. In the crater we dove the back side of Reef's End. Great dive! Had a large manta and maybe a Galapagos Shark as well. Thanks B&B, and thanks Teri for helping organize.

Talk about timing.....
Had been planning a dive for over a week now with my friend Ashleigh. We finally got over to Maui Dreams today about 11am or so to get Ash's gear. Teri tell us a south swell has battered the shore dives all to hell. No visibility anywhere worth diving. Needless to say, we are kinda bummed! We decide to go to breakfast instead and maybe a day on the beach. As we are leaving, Randy Yates and his girlfriend, Tammy pull up. We exchange howdoyoudo's and tell him we are scrapped from our diving today. As luck would have it, Randy is going out to Molokini on his boat for a dive or two and invites us along. How cool is that, I ask?? Beautiful day and a grteat ride out to Molokini brings us to Sand Channels where we do our first dive to about 80 feet. Checking out the garden eels and several white tip and grey reef sharks. Lots of Ulua and other large fish. Awesome dive and Ashleighs first boat dive and by far, deepest dive.
During our surface interval we putt around a bit and cast a line for a little trolling, landing a little 12inch Kava Kava, or skipjack tuna. He gets spared and lives to grow a little...until next time!!!!
The 2nd dive takes us to the "Edge of the World", near the Enenui side of Molokini Crater. A sweet dive that slopes sharply to about 250', so you need to keep an eye on your bouyancy. We dove this for about an hour, checking out really nice coral structures and watching the sharks and Ulua darting around us. We saw a few large nudibranchs, one of them of the Blue Dragon variety, a very large Turtle Cowry and a pair of nice Leaf Scorpionfish.
We get back to shore safely in the heat of a big swell and now it's off to start cooking for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Thanks Randy for a great day! Mahalo.

Today was a good day...
I got my 15 seconds of fame today...or at least 15 seconds of TV time. Well...it wasn't all mine, or even about me, but I was on ESPN with a pretty close shot!!!
The Maui Invitational Basketball Tourney kicked off today and Mike got free tickets from Tommy Bahama's and we set out to catch some NCAA hoops. We caught the first two games, the first being UVA and Chaminade. This was supposed to be the rematch of the biggest upset in NCAA history, Chaminade defeating UVA. Anyhoo...a lot of the Alumni were present from that game and who was sitting next to us but UVA alum Ralph Sampson.

Ralph was quite the celebrity there catching many an autograph seekers eye and drawing alot of attention to our area. One of those watchful eyes happened to be an ESPN camera. I found this out when, from 5000 miles away, my Mom calls to tell me she just saw me on TV. They had a pretty close view of us for a while, and it happened just as we were talking with Ralph, who is by the way, a very nice guy. He is retired from the sport, plagued with knee injuries, and now runs basketball camps for children across the US.
So there it was, call it fame, exposure, or simple chance. I was on national TV today and my Mom got to see a live picture of my 5000 miles away in Roanoke, Va.
Love ya Ma!

LA DONNA È MOBILE A WOMAN IS FICKLE
The Duke of Mantua does not have a very high opinion of women's characters...
La donna è mobile
qual piuma al vento,
muta d'accento e di pensiero.
Sempre un amabile
leggiadro viso,
in pianto o in riso
è menzognero.
La donna è mobil
qual piuma al vento
muta d'accento e di pensier.
E sempre misero
qui a lei s'affida,
chi le confida,
mal cauto il core!
Pur mai non sentesi
felice appieno
qui sul quel seno
non liba amore!
La donna è mobil
qual piuma al vento
muta d'accento e di pensier.
A woman is fickle
like a feather in the breeze,
changes her mind at the drop of a hat.
Always shows a charming,
pretty face,
but whether weeping or laughing.
she is deceitful.
A woman is fickle
like a feather in the breeze,
changes her mind at the drop of a hat.
You will be miserable
if you trust her,
if you confide in her
without guarding your heart!
And yet you'll never
feel happy
if you don't sip love
from her breast!
A woman is fickle
like a feather in the breeze,
changes her mind at the drop of a hat.
