April 29th, a short time after the "witching hour". I'm at work, here in Maui and my mind is anywhere, everywhere, nowhere that it is supposed to be. I'll be on a Delta flight back to Roanoke two nights from now. Taking a much needed respite from the toils and hardships here on Maui .
Two weeks off......
Can't remember the last time I had that much of a break. Soooo looking forward to the mental shutdown that I hope to experience as a result of no worrying about whether I'm gonna surf or dive after work...and if so....WHERE?!?!?! This stuff can take a toll on a man.
Taking a vacation to Roanoke, Va from Maui. I tell people this and I get this blank look, you know the one...no....I know the one....I get it all the time.
Roanoke is an awesome place this time of year. The city market is really getting off to its yearly bustle, not that it fully hibernates during the winter, but that it feeds heavily this time of year in anticipation that it MAY fall off the edge of the World any minute. The Strawberry festival andf the Chili Cookoff is keeping downtown busy. The Kentucky Derby is going on and Wa is having a big HooHa as usual. Tiem to fire up that custom barbeque and let it earn its keep.
Lots of people to see and dinners and parties to attend. Will hit it as hard as I can and bring back whats left over to Maui in two weeks. Then its time to hit the grindstone again. Surfing...diving...tanning...shooting pool... Man, it really doesn't get any better than this

Where is Margaritaville?
It's in the tropics, somewhere between the Port of Indecision and Southwest of Disorder, but no parallels of latitude or longitude mark the spot exactly. You don't have to be a navigator to get there. Palm trees provide the camouflage. Ocean breezes bring the seaplanes and sailboats, tourists and travelers. Passports are not required. Island music rules. No waiting lines for anything. There is a beach and a thatched roof bar perched on the edge of the turquoise sea where you can always find a barstool. There are lots of lies and loads of stories.
Margaritaville is where you want it to be. Listening to the music of Jimmy Buffett can help get you there, the rest is up to your state of mind.

I just bought Jimmy Buffett's new CD. Meet Me in Margaritaville. A compilation of his favorites I guess, he calls it "The Ultimate Collection". Great CD and even better lioner notes. Jimmy does a few remakes of some of his classics and in my opinion, they are a bit slow, but nevertheless, in true Bubba style. Love the guy, live the music.
What you'll see from time to time is a collection of my favorite Buffett quotes as I read them, or hear them is song. The guy speaks to me, and million like me because he takes us away from our regualr lives and lyrically transports us to the mecca of all Parrothead-ism, MARGARITAVILLE. I'll throw in a few non-Buffett quotes too that I find relative or just plain witty, but for the most part, they'll be The Gospel as spoken by Bubba. So listen up Parrotheads. Aloha.

I'm at work
Just read my friend, Joe's (artlung.com) blog. He does a really knock out job on it and they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Here's to ya Joe.
I'm down 18.5 lbs at this point, right at one month into the Atkin's Diet and Men's Health workout.
Dr. Atkin's is still in "very critical condition"
I feel good.
I'm off every Monday and Tues.
Tomorrow's Monday!!!!!!
Going back to Roanoke for a visit May 1-14. Really looking forward to the vacation and seeing my family and friends. My pup Rex is looking forward to seeing me too. This is cool. Pretty psyched about two weeks off. Maybe get to see Vince while I'm there too.
